Grandma and Grandpa Came to Visit!

My (Bonnie's) parents came to visit this past weekend. It was a really nice visit! We got the basement work finished in the nick of time and then we relaxed and spent an enjoyable time together. (Warning: lots of pictures for Grandma!)We had a fun full day on Saturday. We started off with the kids' last soccer games for the season. It was fun for Grandma and Grandpa to see those. Then we visited the Church historical site of Winter Quarters. And, of course, we had to go out to eat! It was a really chilly morning! Brrr! The clouds burned off later... but the kids were too cold to keep playing very long! Here's Lexie trying to "warm up" for the game.

Grandma was convinced that Nicholas was freezing...but he was all bundled up and cozy! The rest of us were a bit more chilly.

Gavin was one of only 3 boys who were able to make it to the last game. He kept asking me when it was done! Good job for sticking with it, Gavin!

Lexie's coach was awesome. They gave the kids these soccer ball balloons. She had lots of fun, but I don't know if she learned any competitiveness from this season, though!
Here are my parents at Winter Quarters, with the cemetary behind them on the hill. (The temple is to the left, out of view.) They just celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary by going to Colorado, then coming to visit us!

We had an enjoyable lunch at a popular Midwest restaurant with lots of comfort food and an awesome bakery.

Grandma can't get enough of the chubba-bubba baby! Grandma and Grandpa had a good time seeing and walking around our little community, as well as going to church with us on Sunday. Lexie and Gavin loved reading books with Grandma and doing some fun projects. My parents were busy helping out! They cooked, cleaned, and did dishes...so it wasn't a vacation for them, but it was so nice to have the help.
On Monday we had to show my parents around the zoo! The rope bridge is so cool, Gavin got to show Grandma and Grandpa how to walk on it.

My mom loved the new butterfly building. There were so many neat butterflies and lush foliage.

Lexie had school on Monday, but we went and picked her up at her classroom to finish our zoo trip. She showed Grandpa the petting zoo first.

The part of the zoo Lexie was most excited to show her grandparents was the gorilla habitat. And of course, the kids love to climb on the statues, too!

I always have to get a group shot (it's the only time you see me in the photo.) This is my favorite part of the zoo, the Garden of the Senses. What a fun day (we were worn out after all the walking!) We had a great visit, it was so nice to have visitors!
